Two major China-based tech companies are reportedly looking to setup local smartphone manufacturing plants in India.
According to news reports Huawei is in talks with contract manufacturer Foxconn, with the company's India branch executive director Ramu Patchala telling Economic Times, "We are evaluating the possibility of manufacturing in India." LeEco meanwhile, while no confirmation has been received yet, is reportedly in talks to set up a manufacturing centre in India as well. Reportedly, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Raipur, Bhopal, and Rajasthan are all being considered as ocations for the facility.
These are not the first Chinese smartphone makers to attempt to manufacture devices in India. Oppo announced earlier in May last year that it was looking to set up a plant in India, while Lenovo is now the fourth-largest foreign manufacturer in India.
