If you have an old computer lying around that you don't have much use for, you may want to try running Android on it. Unknown to most, there is actually a version of Android that is available to run on a desktop computer. This could be ideal if the computer in question is not capable enough of running a conventional modern-day desktop operating system like Windows 10 or Linux Mint. Also, it is free.

You will need to install the Remix OS using a simple USB hack. The benefit of installing this over anything else is that you will be able to run Android Marshmallow with official support. You will need a regular Windows computer to start. Download the relevant software from this website. Once you have done so, you will need to unzip its contents and then run the .exe file. While the application is running, you will need to select the relevant ISO file. At this point, you will be prompted to insert a USB stick into your computer and click OK. After doing this, the software will prepare the USB for installation. Once this step is complete, you will be prompted to restart your computer. While restarting, you will need to select to boot from the USB drive option in order for this to work. From here, you will be giving two options:  resident mode or guest mode. If you want to retain your data then select Resident mode but if you have nothing of value then select Guest mode.

That’s it -- Android on your desktop.

With this OS running on your PC, users can experience the entire collection of Android apps. Users can play games like Angry birds or browse the Internet and keep up-to-date with the Google app. In addition, if a virus ever creeps in, a user can pull out the USB stick to prevent any damage to the PC. Furthermore, Android operating system can run quite smoothly on most computers, even if its specifications aren't that great.
