With the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus being announced earlier this month, we recently saw the expected price cuts for their previous generation phones. The iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE have been slashed by up to Rs 22,000 in India. When the news first hit, one of the first questions we asked ourselves was: what exactly can we buy with all that extra cash?

1. Another smartphone, of course

There is an abundance of Chinese smartphones with high-end specifications that have moved into the Indian market. Case in point, the Xiaomi Mi5 priced at Rs.21,999--it does not come with the same glam of an Apple iPhone but the smartphone does pack 3GB of RAM, a 5.15- inch Full HD (1080x1920) display, 16-megapixel primary camera, 4-megapixel front camera and a 3000mAh Battery. It is also driven by Qualcomm’s very capable Snapdragon 820 chipset.

If you're willing to cough up an extra Rs 1,000, then you could get a slightly better deal with LeEco’s Le Max 2. For Rs.22,999, the Le Max 2 is equipped with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 5.7-inch display with quad-HD (1440x2560) resolution, 4GB RAM, 21-megapixel primary camera, 8-megapixel front camera and a 3100 mAh battery.

2. An entry-level laptop

Remember laptops? Those big clunky machines that most of us forgot when we got a smartphone? Well, there are some reasonable laptops from top brands like Dell, HP, and Asus that you don't need bust the bank for. One of these noteworthy devices is the HP 15-AC168TU 15.6-inch Laptop priced at Rs 22,000.The device boasts a 1366x768 resolution, Pentium 3825U processor clocked at 1.9GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB hard disk, dual speakers, Intel HD graphic card and support for Windows 10.

There are plenty of other options too, that fall well within the Rs 22,000 price band, especially those sub-12 inch netbooks that make for a great surfing companion.netbooks that make for a great surfing companion.

3. A Sphero BB-8 Droid

If you're a Star Wars fan you're absolutely going to love Sphero’s BB-8 Droid. Even though Sphero is known for creating tech for kids, this droid comes with a level of sophistication that easily appeals to adults. The app-enabled BB-8 Droid lets you do a lot of cool activities, and also comes with preset functions that correspond to droid actions, ranging from nodding its head to doing a figure eight. The droid will also respond to your voice.

The most fun you can have with the BB-8 droid is putting him into autonomous mode and watch him run around the house. This mode is where its personality truly shines. NOTE: BB-8 will turn red in anger, if he finds an obstacle he cannot pass.

The BB-8 Droid retails for about Rs 16,500, meaning that you can buy a Star Wars: Darth Vader (Glow in the Dark) T-shirt (Rs 500), The Force Awakens DVD (Rs 500), Rubies Star Wars Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber (Rs 1,574), go for a movie and still have about 2,000 bucks left.
