When the Ringing Bells Freedom 251 low-cost phone broke onto the scene in February this year, its Rs 251 pricetag seemed entirely too good to be true. Turned out it was--from one incredulous finding to the next, there was just no way this phone was legit.

Then just when we thought there could be no way another company could pull off something as brazen as this, here’s introducing the Docoss X1, a new low-cost phone priced at Rs 888!

According to the company’s website, this 4-inch phone is based on a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 2MP primary camera (with a 0.3MP front camera,) dual SIM (GSM + WCDMA), 4GB of storage (with a microSD card that can expand this by 32GB) and a 1,300mAH ‘long lasting’ battery. The phone runs the two-generation-old Android 4.4 KitKat version.

Of course, given this precedence of low-cost phones, we couldn’t wait to dig deeper. The phone’s website--www.docoss.co--happens to have been created only today, 27 April 2016 and appears to be registered to an address in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The website does appear to have a product booking page, but clicking the Book Now button led to an error, so we were unable to.
