Google turns 15; celebrates with a pinata doodle and a retro homepage

Internet giant Google today completed 15 years on the web, and they celebrated it with a creative doodle on their homepage.

The interactive logo allows users to play a simple video game of “hitting the piñata”. It is part of the birthday celebration campaign that also includes the creation of an alternate homepage called Google in 1998 that boasts retro looks of, well, how Google looked like in 1998, the year of its inception.

Founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, while they were still students at the Standford University, Google has become one of the internet's most long standing and successful innovations. Their trademark search engine services which were later extended to include email, cloud computing, advertising, etc. “To google” has become very much a part of the contemporary urban vocabulary.

Google has remained dynamic with their logos; so much that their signature style, Google Doodle is a brand too. Over the last few years, Google has out done itself with numerous doodles that trace human history and its achievements. They have even opened the canvas for creative users with the Doodle 4 Google.
