If you happen to own any of these tablets and are among those who can’t wait to get their hands on the latest OS update, you’re in luck. The Android Lollipop 5.1.1 factory image update for the Nexus 7 WiFi (2012), the Nexus 7 WiFi (2013) and the Nexus 10 are now officially available.

The original Android 5.0 Lollipop update was met with mixed experiences, especially on older devices--most famously a memory leak that hit performance in a big way. Using Lollipop on these devices wound up leaving them slower than before. If your updated device is plagued with such issues, this new update should hopefully sort things out.

Check the official Google factory image page: If your device is a 2013 Nexus 7, find the 5.1.1 update under the “razor” heading, if you have the 2013 WiFi Nexus 7 it will be under the “nakasi” heading and if you have the Nexus 10 it will be listed under the “mantaray” heading.

Surprisingly, the update isn’t yet available for the newer Nexus 6 phone and the Nexus 9 tablet, which may indicate that this update focuses on specific fixes for older devices.

Note that this is a manual update, so be sure to backup your device before taking the plunge: use a program like Titanium Backup or Easy Backup & Restore. The flashing instructions are at the top of the factory image download page--read it a few times to familiarize yourself with the process before proceeding, as it is a fairly involved procedure.
