Google multiplies the worth of the A M Turing 'Computer Science Award' to $1 million

Google raises the value of Computer Science Prize to the mammoth worth of $1 Million. The AM Turing Award for Computer Science, is often equated to the prestige of a 'Novel Prize'. Google in its attempt to promote the age of technology, is sponsoring to award the gifted awardee a handsome sum of 1 billion dollars. 

Computer Science as a course is trending in the educational spheres. There is a growing demand for these techno-savvy courses by young college students. It is a promising field with ample of opportunities, and a money minting future. 

Commenting on the worth of the award, President of the Association Alexander L Wolf said, it is awarded to "fundamental contributors to the science and technology of computing." The previous award winners have been unsung heroes, discovering technology in uncanny ways to obtain optimum results. 

The initial funders of this prize were Google and Intel in 2007, where the award money was $25,000. When Intel dropped out, Google not only took Centre-stage but elevated the prize to a whole new level. Increasing the worth of the reward, Stuart Feldman (Vice President for engineering at Google) said, lifts the Turing Award into the “major league of scientific prizes."

The award serves a dual purpose for the Internet giant, it is positive branding and it promotes Google as a company as a serious supporter of fundamental research.
