Recent reports indicate Google might be adding a new feature or two to its Maps apps.

According to Android Police, some users running the beta version of Google Maps are reporting seeing a new interface in the Google Maps Explore menu. The new look is based on Google’s own Material Design, with a lot of Google Now cards included.

Google is clearly beta testing the feature from their side, seeing as not all beta app users have the new interface. However, it’s not yet clear if this look will make it out of testing and on to the app proper.

Aside from just being pretty, the report indicates the new Explore menu has better integration with other Google services like Photos, as well as opting for groupings that make for a shorter vertical scroll. Fingers crossed, and maybe we’ll see this feature in Google Maps soon.
