Google has announced Cast for users to play their music or audio from a smartphone to a compatible speaker over Wi-Fi.

According to the Verge, Cast for audio is based on the same technology Google uses for its Chromecast, just without the video capabilities. A number of speaker manufacturers have signed up to support Cast, including Sony, LG, and Denon and any audio app that supports the Chromecast feature can wirelessly send music to a compatible speaker. Cast can be used by iOS and Android devices.

LG's Music Flow line of wireless speakers is the first line of Google Cast speakers available for purchase. Pricing ranges from US $179 for the 30-watt H3 on up to US $999 for the top of the line soundbar.
