Google's former Android head honcho and the current chief of their robotics division, Andy Rubin, is leaving the company to pursue another path.

Rubin is launching a startup incubator to encourage people interested in building technology hardware products. Google, however, has said it remains interested in the robotics sector and will continue investing in it, with James Kauffner, a member of the robotics team, replacing Rubin as chief.

Google's robotics division includes various acquired subsidiaries, like Boston Dynamics, creators behind the BigDog and Atlas, Japan-based Schaft, and Meka Robotics.
