Using simple steps Outlook users can create multiple email aliases belonging to the true account that can be used for password recovery, or making it difficult for hackers to pull out data through back door.

Creating aliases could also help users keep websites and apps, which force them to register, at bay and also keep it off the hands of annoying marketers.

According to PC World, users can simply click on the settings cog in the upper right corner and click on `More` mail settings in the drop down menu. On the next page, under `Manage my account,` users can click on Create an Outlook alias and re-login to get directed to the alias creation page, where one can simply enter the name of the email address they would want to create an alternative address of.

Next, is to select which email address to be used, either Outlook.com, Hotmail.com or Live.com and click 'Create an alias'. Outlook would then redirect the user back to their inbox and then choose to have mail from their new alias delivered straight to their inbox or to a separate folder.

Once the alias account has been set up, one can use it to sign in to their Microsoft account using the same password they always have and can also use the aliases to replace their current Hotmail or Live.com address as the primary identity for Microsoft account. The report said that active aliases would also show up in the Windows 8 modern UI mail client and Outlook.com for Android.
