myHomework Student Planner

Ever found yourself needing to resort to the good-old 'dog ate my homework' excuse simply because you can never remember when anything is due? Then download this app, that helps you with the A-Zs of your homework. Whether it is categorising your homework via date, subject, class, type and priority or viewing your schedule (the app has a calendar and gives you friendly reminders), it stores all your homework information in one place.

myHomework Student Planner also has a special feature, wherein you can link your app to that of your teachers, in order to access support material, announcements and resources. It describes itself as the "perfect replacement to that paper student planner, school diary, or academic agenda". While we wouldn't go as far as saying the app makes homework fun, it definitely makes it easier to organise.

Star Chart

This app will take you to the stars and back, and is a must have for any star-gazing or astronomy lovers. Reported as being the best-selling educational & augmented reality app,  it is definitely the most unique on the list. As the name suggests, the app allows you to carry around your very own star chart in your pocket.

One simply needs to point the device towards the sky, and the app will use the GPS and an accurate 3D universe to calculate "in real time - the current location of every star, planet and moon visible from Earth and show you precisely where they are; even in broad daylight!". This app is truly out of this world.
