Following in the footsteps of other two tech giants, Google has opened a hardware store in the UK. The store is located on Tottenham Court Road, London, housed within Currys PC World. The store will provide an opportunity to the customers to browse through its range of Android Phones, tablets, and Chromebook laptops and Chromecasts. Google employees at the shop will also train them on how to use these devices.

The shop in Currys PC World is more of branding exercise than an approximation of a standalone store. The tech company just branded a place within the shop, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The Google Shop features surround-screen installation through which customers can have the Google Earth experience. It will also have digital spray cans for customers to get creative with the Google logo.

James Elias, the UK marketing director for Google, said, “We’re incredibly excited to launch this space - the first of its kind anywhere in the world - in London with Currys PC World. The pace of innovation of the devices we all use is incredible, yet the way we buy them has remained the same for years. With the Google shop, we want to offer people a place where they can play, experiment and learn about all of what Google has to offer; from an incredible range of devices to a totally-connected, seamless online life. We think it’s a genuinely unique try-before-you-buy experience.”

The shop plans to host 'Virtual Space Camps' and 'Open House' events for kids and teachers to learn about coding and other educational tools. With the shop, Google aims to get customers to experience the buying process by way of handling the devices.

If the endeavour in UK is successful, there is a possibility of more stores popping up in other parts of the world.

Along with this physical store, Google has moved the device section from its PlayStore. They are now selling these devices through the website store.google.com.
