Social media giant Facebook has created a mysterious event for Thursday, which is speculated to be the one where, the company would add video feature to its Instagram smartphone picture sharing service.

Facebook acquired Instagram last year, but made it impossible for the users to integrate their images into tweets, following which Twitter launched Instagram-style smartphone photo sharing features, News 24 reports.

According to the report, Facebook has invited media through the event to its headquarters in Silicon Valley city of Menlo Park where 'a small team working on a big idea' will unveil something which is still undisclosed.

The company's adding of video feature to Instagram would allow users to share video snippets similar to a hit app 'Vine' launched by Twitter in January.

Another speculation about the event include that Facebook might launch RSS Reader, a feature which Google is shutting down at the end of this month, the report added.
