Facebook's new 360 video cameras gives you a chance to be part of live action scenes

As per the report, “The x24 and the x6 capture 8K-quality scenes with what’s known as six degrees of freedom (6DOF), which means your body can move forward, backward, up, down, left, and right so long as you’re wearing a VR headset with positional tracking like the Oculus Rift

On April 19, Facebook announced a number of new features that will be available to the end user.  During its annual F8 conference, the company announced that the company is developing a method to improve technology that allows people to type words using their minds.

In addition, Facebook also announced the second generation of its Surround 360 video camera design. The first model, which was unveiled last year, was an open-source guide for others to build off of.

The new model is available as a large and a portable unit. The larger one is called the x24 because it has a 24-camera array arranged in an orb, as reported by The Verge. The smaller one – the x6 – because of six cameras, is more manageable because of its size.

As per the report, “The x24 and the x6 capture 8K-quality scenes with what’s known as six degrees of freedom (6DOF), which means your body can move forward, backward, up, down, left, and right so long as you’re wearing a VR headset with positional tracking like the Oculus Rift.”

This high-end technology is usually reserved for extremely high-end Hollywood special effects and editing tools, yet other companies in the camera and VR space are working on bringing costs down and making content more accessible. And Facebook feels that the hardware and software is easier to use than existing tech.
