Facebook will now allow small businesses in emerging markets to sell items and services directly from their Facebook Pages for free. The countries set to receive the feature include Thailand, Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, India, Argentina, and Taiwan.
With this move, the company hopes that more businesses in such markets will eventually decide to become paying advertisers. According to a report by VentureBeat, the services section is available globally to professional services providers and will be rolled out to all pages in “the coming weeks”.
With the new feature, businesses can display their products which they are selling on their page, which will enable customers to not only search for items but make offers through Facebook Messenger as well. Small businesses are said to benefit the most from the new sections, as they counteract the need for a website.
