You may soon be unable to download your favourite TV shows, movies, and music from torrent websites. A new report suggests that Google along with Yahoo and Bing (by Microsoft) will be removing torrent websites with unauthorised or infringing content from its search results.

According to TorrentFreak, the search giants reached a mutual decision with representatives of entertainment industry after a meeting which was conducted by UK's Intellectual Property Office.

“Since the idea was last discussed in Parliament, Intellectual Property Office officials have chaired a further round table meeting between search engines and representatives of the creative industries,” said Baroness Buscombe.

“While there are still elements of detail to be settled, the group is now agreed on the key content of the code and I expect an agreement to be reached very soon,” She added

The report goes on to say that the ban should be enforced by June 1, 2017.

“The search engines involved in this work have been very co-operative, making changes to their algorithms and processes, but also working bilaterally with creative industry representatives to explore the options for new interventions, and how existing processes might be streamlined,” said Buscombe.

If the ban takes effect in UK, other nations will likely follow this trend. As of now, there is a shroud of mystery regarding how the decision will affect India.
