Electronic Arts’ FIFA series may not be a burgeoning following, but it does have a dedicated player base worldwide, with fans eagerly awaiting each year’s installment in the series. So it’s a little surprising to see that FIFA ‘17 might be coming to mobile before other platforms.

Sans any form of announcement, EA has launched the game on Google Play, under a slightly different title “Fifa Mobile Soccer”. The name indicates the company is keen to emphasize that this isn’t a fan-service Android port from consoles, but a standalone mobile game.

Aside from the standard team management and campaign ladder, with 30 leagues, 650 teams, and a total of 17000 players to choose from, EA has also added a few other features. In the new Attack mode, you can challenge other players to turn-based match, where you plan your team’s tactics. There are also league-based challenges; join a league and fight for glory, or attempt to climb the world league ladder. EA has stated they will also be adding daily content, as well as live events to win rewards.

The game download is free, and supposedly under 100MB, but you’ll still need an internet connection to play. Aside from that, while the game is launched on the Play Store, it’s currently unavailable in India. You can head over to the page here, and pre-register to receive a notification when it’s live. The game is also expected to release for iOS devices soon.
