Until July 10, 2016, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, USA, is highlighting the synergy between fashion and technology with a line-up of creations from international designers. The "#techstyle" exhibition explores how technology is changing design and manufacturing in the fashion industry, while also creating new ways for people to interact with their clothes.

The exhibition includes pieces from big-name designers like Alexander McQueen and Viktor & Rolf, as well as Iris Van Herpen and Ralph Lauren, in a showcase of over 60 artworks, garments, accessories, videos and photographs.

"#techstyle" focuses on the latest high-tech innovations and their use in the fashion world. It explores how established designers like Issey Miyake and Rei Kawakubo have integrated this technology into their collections through a presentation of designs, creations, videos and photos.

The exhibition includes pieces like the "Ricky Bag with Light" by Ralph Lauren, featuring an interior light and a built-in phone charger, and the artificial leg of amputee pop singer Viktoria Modesta. These will be presented alongside multimedia installations showing live fashion shows or outlining the 3D-printing process, for example.

The rest of the exhibition will be organised around the themes of production and performance. Looking beyond the aesthetic benefits that technology can bring to fashion, the exhibition explores how innovation can transform clothing into interactive wearables, turning garments into video monitors, mood detectors, medical surveillance devices and more.

One of the key pieces in this section is the CuteCircuit light-up dress, as worn by singer Katy Perry at the 2010 Met Costume Institute Gala. Another must-see is the "Crystallization" dress, designed by Iris Van Herpen in collaboration with the ShowStudio film production company. This dress was developed using images of water splashing against a model's body.

The "#techstyle" exhibition runs until July 10, 2016, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA.
