Bose took the wraps off a powerful new diminutive speaker – the SoundTouch 10 system as it made a definitive, albeit late push into integrating Bluetooth into its SoundTouch range of speakers and sound bars. While some of Bose’s portable speakers (like the SoundLink series) came equipped with Bluetooth capability, adding  Bluetooth to Bose’s SoundTouch home entertainment range was probably long overdue. Next Big Sound, an entertainment data analytics firm reported that a whopping 1 trillion songs were streamed worldwide in the first half of 2015 alone, from across platforms like Pandora, YouTube and Soundcloud, suggesting a clear shift in the way consumers are using their speakers and home entertainment systems.

Bose also made two key new announcements during the unique experiential launch. The first, a new SoundTouch app (available for Android and iOS) that allows Bose users to explore integrated music services and set personalised presets. The app allows you to access international platforms like Spotify and Pandora, that are currently unavailable in India, but doesn’t offer access to Indian apps like Wynk .The second, the ability of this new range to stream music from countless Internet radio stations. You can set six personalised presets to any music service playlist or internet radio station, and the SoundTouch system remembers them automatically. You just need to hit the assigned button on the remote – no app needed.

The SoundTouch 10 might be the smallest sibling in this new Bose family but it's made the biggest impression with a new Unidome transducer (with Bose’s own trademark digital signal processing). It produces impressive, clean sound for a single speaker of its size – it weighs just 1.87kg and is just over 8 inches tall, making it a cool addition to your den. It’s priced quite aggressively – Rs 19,013 and requires a power source; a portable speaker with these creds would be a mouth watering proposition.

The brilliant blend of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi allows you to stream any song from your device playlist, music service or even YouTube, and then use Wi-Fi to broadcast it to multiple SoundTouch speakers, allowing you to take your ‘now playing’ track across your entire house. Among the other ‘updated’ devices at the launch event were the bigger brothers of the SoundTouch 10 – the SoundTouch 20 and 30, and also an immersive SoundTouch 520 home entertainment system.
