Blackberry silently launched its DTEK50 Android-based smartphone for a price of $299 (approximately Rs 20,000). The device can be pre-ordered from the company website in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. No information has been provided as to when the device will be available in India.
In terms of specifications, the device features a 5.2-inch full-HD display. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, paired with 3GB RAM. The device includes an internal storage of 16GB which can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.
Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the BlackBerry DTEK50 comes equipped with a 13MP auto-focus rear camera along with an 8MP front facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G, 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC and GPS. A 2610mAh battery completes the package. It is rated to deliver up to 17 hours of talk time.
The device also features BlackBerry Convenience Key, BlackBerry-style pop-up widgets, BB device search, Instant Actions, Gesture Controls, and a smart keyboard.
