BlackBerry Limited today launched the BlackBerry Classic in India, a smartphone designed for speed and efficiency, revolving around a QWERTY keypad.

“With the launch of BlackBerry Classic, we are bringing back the unique QWERTY experience that made BlackBerry smartphones a users’ go-to productivity tool,” said Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director of BlackBerry India. “This device brings the best of BlackBerry features and the keyboard functionalities familiar to BlackBerry Bold and Curve users on a secure and productive platform, with the added performance and agility that power professionals need to be competitive in today’s busy world.” Although familiar in appearance, BlackBerry Classic  upgrades the BlackBerry Bold 9900 experience with a 3X faster browser, 60 percent more screen space and (supposedly) 50 percent longer battery life.

The Blackberry Classic comes with a 3.5" touch screen display, 294 dpi HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, running the Blackberry 10.3.1 OS, and 2GB RAM, the device has 16GB of storage, expandable up to 128GB, and a 2MP front and 8MP rear camera.

The BlackBerry Classic will be available on Snapdeal beginning January 15, 2015 and at all BlackBerry Exclusive Stores at a retail price of  Rs 31,990. The first 1,000 customers to purchase the phone can avail an exclusive offer on Snapdeal that entitles existing BlackBerry Bold users to a buyback offer of up to Rs 4500.
