The Bible app by YouVersion is reportedly one of the most popular smartphone app with downloads reaching 100 million.
According to the Washington Times, the Bible app has been among the top 100 free apps for three consecutive years according to Apple’s iTunes charts.

The top verse shared through the app is Isaiah 53:5, ‘But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed’ and the most popular and most accessed verse is Psalms 37:4, ‘Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart’.
It was the brainchild of Pastor Bobby Gruenewald of LifeChurch.TV in Oklahoma behind the use of technology to make the Bible more accessible via smartphones and tablets.
Pastor Gruenewald said that it was not possible earlier to compare multiple translations of the Bible in an instant but now if a user cannot understand a particular phrasing; it is easy to check out another translation for clarity.
NFL player Bobbie Williams, a fan of the app, said that the app keeps him connected when he’s on the go. Instead of carrying the old Bible which is a little big he can use the app and pull up the Daily Verse or can bookmark verses in it.
The report added that new initiatives are planned now that the Bible app has hit the 100 million milestone which includes adding the New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) and a new Bible for children aged 4 to 10 with an interactive games and stories.
