Rocksteady today released the trailer for Batman: Arkham Night their final installment in the Arkham series of games, that let you play as Gotham's gliding, swinging, punching, ball of badassery.
The Batman Arkham Facebook page puts the trailer in brief context. With the Scarecrow having united many of Batman's enemies, including Arkham Knight, The Riddler, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Two Face, and Firefly, the villians attempt to take down the bat and take over Gotham for their own. The combat looks to be laregly the sam, albeit with a few new gadgets, and, of course, the Batmobile is your vehicle and your fight combo finisher. The game is pegged for a June 2 release this year.
Reports recently emerged that the game has been given an M (Mature) rating, as opposed to the T (Teen) rating for the previous three games. While Rocksteady have said that they didn't want to sacrifice the story's impact just to make sure everyone could have access to the game, there's a clearer logic to this. Rocksteady's licence to the Batman franchise has run out, and it's known for a while that they're planning to let go of the Dark Knight with a bang. As such, whether there may be a slight dip in sales thanks to the M rating won't affect the non-existent prospects of future Batman games for them. On the other hand, there's also the fact that ratings rarely stop kids from getting their hands on games (we're looking at you, underage GTA players), so the mature rating will likely do little to harm their sales, but will in fact generate more hype. Here's looking forward to June in gleeful anticipation.
