Bad news for Mi fans: Xiaomi Mi 6 might never launch in India!

And instead, Xiaomi may launch the Mi Mix 2 or the Mi Note 3 in the country.

Xiaomi Mi 6, which launched recently in China, might never make it to India. According to a report by India Today Tech, the company will not the device for the Indian market and might instead, launch another device - Mi Mix 2 or the Mi Note 2. Both devices were launched in China last year but never released in India.

The reason? Well, the previous iteration, the Xiaomi Mi 5 did not perform so well in the country. Many believed that the reason for its failure is the fact that Xiaomi never launched the higher-end variant in India, in an effort to keep the device, affordable. The company was highly criticized for this move. The report added that former company VP for global, Hugo Barra had reinterred that "it was a mistake not bringing the 64 gig Xiaomi Mi 5 to India."

However, the smartphone maker is still clear with its intentions about not launching the flagship devices in India. It claims that introducing flagship devices to India will get too expensive for Xiaomi. In China, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has received a great response and will go on sale on April 28. Reportedly, it crossed 10 lakh registrations for the sale.

In terms of specifications, the device sports a 5.15-inch Full HD display. It is powered by a 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM. Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 8 on top, it includes two internal storage options - 64GB/128GB.

It is equipped with a dual-camera setup - two 12MP rear cameras, along with an 8MP front facing camera. Connectivity options include WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GLONASS, NFC and USB-Type C. A 3350mAh battery completes the package.
