Apple leaks have become commonplace in the run up to major launch events, but this time around it’s not about the iPhone 7.

The latest rumour doing the rounds is that Apple is set to release two new versions of the Apple Watch towards the end of this year.

According to AppleInsider, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the two new Apple Watches will make an appearance in the second half of this year. One version will feature an improved processor while the other, apparently named the Apple Watch 2, will feature additional hardware in the form of a GPS radio and a barometer for improved geolocation. The report goes on to say that the Apple Watch 2 will also sport a larger battery.

Kuo also says that the aesthetic design of the smartwatch will remain the same, an important announcement for current owners of a device that is half wearable and half fashion statement. In fact, he also states that the Apple Watch’s design will stay the same well into 2017.

While it’s necessary to take any rumours with a pinch of salt, Kuo is notable for consistently being right where Apple products are concerned. Additionally, the news aligns with previous announcements that watchOS 3.0 is expected later this year
