Apple has reportedly said that the life expectancy of its iPhones and Apple Watch is three years, and that of its AppleTV is four years.

In an update to their environmental policy the Cupertino-based tech giant said you'd you can be assured productivity from your iPhone and Apple Watch up to three years, while your AppleTV and OS X can be expected to remain problem-free up to about four years, according to a Forbes report. Apple stated in the report, "To model customer use, we measure the power consumed by a product while it is running in a simulated scenario. Daily usage patterns are specific to each product and are a mixture of actual and modeled customer use data. Years of use, which are based on first owners, are assumed to be four years for OS X and tvOS devices and three years for iOS and watchOS devices."

Of course, Apple is always ready to release new hardware and software upgrades by the time that deadline rolls around; the iPhone SE for instance was launched approximately three years after the iPhone 5S made its debut.
