Apple Music, announced earlier this week at the company’s Worldwide Developer conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, will cost Rs 120 a month in India for a single account, and Rs 180 a month for a family account, according to a Twitter leak.
Tech enthusiast Jayesh posted the screenshots from a developer preview of the software, where the prices are listed, but the plans have not yet been activated. The prices for those plans in the US were announced as US $9.99 for an individual account and US $14.99 for the family plan, which lets you sync three different profiles.

While Apple is yet to officially announce these prices in India, it seems Apple is set to not only “kill” Spotify globally, but also compete with services like Gaana.com in India. A Gaana.com subscription lets you stream an unlimited number of songs ad-free, while a Gaana+ premium plan costs Rs 99 per month, letting you sync your profile to five devices and download and stream an unlimited number of songs.
Apple Music will be launching for iOS, Mac and PC devices, and will be available for the Apple TV and Android smartphones later this year. The company has also made the first three months’ subscription free, to allow users to take it for a spin before committing.
