Google has revamped its official logo on its search page and has replaced the previous menu bar with a smaller range of links on the page’s right side.
The redesigned logo is flatter as compared to the older version that had drop shadows and it is the first change to the search giant’s logo since 2010.
Recently, Yahoo also revamped its official logo after a month-long user review along with Microsoft’s Bing search tool, which was also updated.
A Google spokeswoman said that similar changes would now be slowly rolled out across its products in a bid to streamline users' experience of its services to prevent ‘distractions’, the BBC reports.
An analyst at tech consultancy Forrester, Sarah Rotman said that Google’s revamped logo is subtle because these software companies depend on user loyalty and do not want to do anything that would alienate their users.
According to the report, users will now be required to click on an icon made up of small squares on the home page to access other products like Google Drive storage, YouTube videos or the Android app Play Store.
However, the changes will not be available to all the users yet, the report added.
