Almost a month ago, Yahoo! announced their decision to go in for a new look logo keeping the purple colour and exclamation mark. In the last 30 days, the portal played with fonts with 30 different logos.

The countdown logo play was done by Yahoo! on their US homepage, Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook pages for the last month and on Wednesday, September 4, the new logo was unveiled.

Yahoo uploaded a video on their YouTube channel that explained how they created and chose their new logo.

The new logo is part of CEO Marissa Mayer's attempt to breathe in new life through visual appeal into Yahoo!

The new logo looks slim and has the word Yahoo! written so that none of the letters touch each other has an exclamation mark at the end which many font experts have termed as a 'dancing' exclamation mark.

"We wanted a logo that stayed true to our roots (whimsical, purple, with an exclamation point) yet embraced the evolution of our products," a statement on the website said explaining the new logo.
