The hack-attack recently carried on Adobe, is reportedly much more severe than initially perceived as latest investigations indicate to around 38 million active Adobe users’ usernames and encrypted passwords being affected.

Adobe earlier reported that the attack affected only 2.9 million customers, but computer security site, Krebs pointed to a much higher number and said that the restoring process is on.

According to The Verge, the initially reported 2.9 million accounts affected by the attack also had credit card information associated with them, but Adobe said that the other accounts were part of a separate database that did not include payment information.

Krebs revealed that in addition to account details, portions of the source code for Photoshop, Acrobat, Reader, and ColdFusion were also taken, some of which has also been posted online since the attack.

The report said that Adobe is offering a year of credit monitoring to all customers whose credit cards were accessed in the breach.

In its letter to affected customers, Adobe said that it couldn’t confirm whether any of that decrypted information had actually been removed from its servers, the report added.
