It’s that time of the year again when we look back at some of  the best technology products of 2012. Here’s a quick listing of DNA Digital ’s top picks of 2012, along with two runners up for each segment.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Rs37,000
Despite its size, the Note II proved to be another huge success for Samsung and surprisingly, appealed to a much wider audience than just those with large hands. It’s also one of the most powerful phones to come out this year. However, the Note II gains the top spot, mostly due to the brilliant stylus technology used. The S Pen manages great levels of accuracy and its varied pressure sensitivity allows you to sketch and draw with great precision.

Apple iPad 4th Gen (16GB, Wi-Fi) — Rs31,900
The iPad continues to bag the top spot every year and even though the 4th Gen iPad may not be a major overhaul of the 3rd Gen, it still is the best tablet out there right now. The latest incarnation features a Retina display for accurate colours and great viewing angles. The new iPad also features a faster SoC called A6X which has quad-core graphics for smoother gameplay. The 5MP iSight camera continues to be the best one fitted on a tablet till date. It’s capable of Full HD recording and really good macros and low light photography.

LG 84LM9600 Ultra HD TV Rs17 lakh
The LG 4K TV or Ultra HD TV steals the show with its massive size and super high resolution. This 84-inch monster packas in a UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160p which is four times the resolution of Full HD that current TVs have. While content of this sort is still hard to come by, it’s truly a technological achievement for LG and sets a precedence for high-end TVs in 2013. This edge-lit LED TV features local dimming LEDs or LED Plus as LG likes to call it. This causes portions of the screen to dim or brighten depending on the scene and the end result is deeper blacks as well as lower power consumption. Other features include built-in Wi-Fi and WiDi technology, Cinema 3D, Dual Play, 3D World, Smart Share and a whole bunch of apps to go along with it.

Canon has been waiting patiently in this arena and have finally launched the EOS M, which is easily one of the best performing CSC cameras this year.
