Asus launched their premium flagship -- the ZenFone Zoom at Rs 37,000 which Asus claims has one of the best cameras in the market, even going as far to compare it to a DSLR camera. In fact, the 3X optical zoom is one of the biggest selling point of the phone -- along with the Intel PC-Grade 64-bit Z3590 Super Quad-core CPU 2.5Ghz processor, of course.

So we at DNA decided to put the “DSLR” camera to the test -- we have compiled a slideshow so our viewers can decide if the camera is worth buying the phone. We also threw in a couple of pictures of the phone and the camera.

The HOYA manufacture lens is the biggest feature of this phone. The 13MP f/2.7 aperture camera comes equipped with laser auto-focus, dual flash and 3X optical zoom with optical image stabilization.

Asus integrated a photo and video recording button into the side panel to give a DSLR feel -- press either button for about a second or two and it will take to directly to the camera. They also have standard volume control and an on/off switch which doubles as a lock/unlock screen button.

This is comes standard with top of the line camera but it’s a first for premium smartphones. The strap is made of leather and it can be adjusted to suit your wrist -- on a personal note, it is quite comfortable -- it also saved my phone a couple of times.

A technician from Asus confirmed that the Asus ZenFone Zoom has NFC (near field communications.) So the smartphone can act like a smart card -- allowing users to perform transactions such as payment.

I took this shot at a friend’s office keeping my hand as steady as possible, by the way I should mention that I’m not the best photographer.

I tried to mimic the same things i did when I took the wide-angle-shot, I even resting my hand on small cupboard for added support.
