‘Steve Jobs is an inspiration because he overcame failure’
Steven Levy wrote a book called Insanely Great about Apple and its founder Jobs. That was in 1993!
Imagine how many MORE insanely great things Jobs did in the next 18 years. He is a great inspiration not just because he was a genius, visionary, passionate, school dropout who rode unimaginable success, but also because he overcame failure, that too many times.
Newton, Lisa, Apple-III, MobileMe, and even getting kicked out of his own company.
On failure, he famously said, "When you are a janitor, reasons matter. But somewhere between janitor and the CEO reasons stop mattering.”
He embodied this thought completely. Those who are in charge have no-one else to blame. Failure cannot be justified by "reasons"!
An icon with a cult following, that too from the corporate world, is something truly rare. Truly, insanely great!
