In the smartphone mid-segment section, here comes the another capable contender, Infinix Zero 5. For those who don't know, Honk Kong based

smartphone brand Infinix entered Indian smartphone market in 2016.

And in November 2017, the company launched one of its flagship device Infinix Zero 5. The mid-range smartphone market is already dominated by

the market players like Motorola, Oppo, and Xiaomi. So, let's find out what Infinix is offering to stand out in the spotlight.

Design

One think which will grab your attention instantly is Infinix Zero 5's huge size. The phone is quite big, with metal unibody design that feels smooth to

the touch. The handset will be available in three colours, Champagne Gold, Sandstone Black and Bordeaux Red.

The rear side has a black band across the top which is where its dual cameras and LED flash are present. The fingerprint sensor is just below the

strip.

Setting up fingerprint took a while than usual, but the process was hassle free.

Overall, the handset feels smooth to hold but the size does not make it comfortable for one-hand experience, which may bother many.

Specifications

Infinix Zero 5 boasts of a large 5.98-inch Full HD (1080x1920) display. I used the phone for over a couple of and really liked the bright display and

the way the colours popped out. The colours are vivid and crisp, and the screen is pretty much visible in a broad day-light too.

Besides the frame, you'll sport a USB Type-C port on the bottom, a single speaker grille on its left and a 3.5mm headphone jack on its right. The

right side of the frame has the power button and volume controls as well as a dual-SIM slot. The left side contanis slot for a microSD card.

The single speaker provides good sound but not clear enough.

The Infinix Zero 5 is powered by a 2.6GHz octa-core MediaTek P25 MT6757 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM with 64GB of storage.

Performance

The Zero 5 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. The device surelly is loaded and seems like that it will

take whatever will be thrown at it and in most of the cases it does.

While using the phone for videos and gaming, I did not witness any glitch. It functioned smooth without hanging plus the apps were also quick to open.

One thing that earned brownie points from me is its freezer feature. Freezer offloads apps you haven’t used for a long time and once frozen, these

apps don’t eat the phone's battery and can be unfrozen with just a single tap.

Camera

I will say that the USP of Infiniz Zero 5 is its camera setup. The back cameras come with a combination of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 13

-megapixel telephoto lens. The overall performance will remind you the quality of OnePlus 5T and the Apple iPhone X. Yes, it's that good.

The cameras you capture photos with DSLR-like bokeh effects. But, in few cases I found that in bright light the picture were a bit oversaturated.

The camera also allows for refocusing after a photo has been shot. However, the device has no dual-camera setup up at the front.

Battery Life

Now, let's talk about the most important aspect of the device, the battery life. The smartphone is backed by a 4,350mAh battery that is big and

capable enough to the last the entire day on a single charge.

Even with heavy usage that involved gaming and watching HD videos, with WhatsApp, accessing to my office mails, slack, instagram and Twitter,

the battery lasted for the whole day.

The device took around two hours to get fully charged up to 100 per cent, that's where I was disappointed a bit.

Analysis

Infinix Zero 5, without a doubt offers quite a lot. The cameras are decent enough, the performance is smooth. But at a starting price of Rs 17,999,

customers might be a little sceptical about this one.

In mid-range segment, already established market players like Motorola and oppo among others are offering slighltly much than what the Hong

Kong based brand has for its customers. But, nonetheless it's a good start.
