Investigators have arrested two persons for allegedly killing a woman on November 21, while she was alone at her house in Rajajinagar. They said that the main accused was a close friend of the victim, Seema Jain (32).

Police have identified Seema’s alleged killers as Mohammed Asif alias Sameer (23), a resident of Arogyamma Layout in Venkateshapura, and Imran Ahmed alias Immu (20), a resident of Devara Jeevana Halli. The investigation revealed that they had killed the woman for gain. Police recovered 350 grams of gold, Rs20,000 in cash and four mobile phones, worth Rs7 lakh, from the accused persons.

An investigation revealed that the deceased had indulged in financial transactions with several persons in the past. The main accused, Asif, had also taken money from her on many occasions. In the course of events, he became close to her and started visiting her frequently.

Later, Asif reportedly opened an apparel outlet in Basaveshwaranagar, but had to shut it down on account of financial losses. Left with no money on his person, he and his friend, Ahmed, then hatched a plan to murder Seema and loot her house.

Assistant commissioner of police (Malleswaram sub-division) GT Ajjappa said that Seema was found in the bedroom with stab injuries on the neck and body. Some valuables were also found missing from her house, police said, adding that this had made them suspect that the motive behind the crime was monetary gain.

The inquiry also revealed that Asif was first introduced to Seema at her brother’s embroidery shop in Rajajinagar, after which they became close friends. It was Seema who helped him open a new shop in Basaveshwaranagar – which turned out to be a dud.
