The administration board of Vadilal Sarabhai (VS) Hospital has decided to use only in-house ventilators for treating patients.
Earlier, the doctors recommended patients to use ventilators on rent from any private hospital despite the fact that the hospital has around 15 ventilators of its own. A ventilator taken on rent can cost a patient anywhere between Rs1,700-Rs2,000 per day.
The hospital board has now decided that only in case of emergency, when all the 15 ventilators are in use, will the superintendent recommend using private ventilator. This apart, the hospital is also in the process of buying a new machine for angiography at the cost of Rs3 crore. A proposal in this regard was passed at the board meeting on Thursday.
