Waiting in the wings

Debutante actor Gayatri Patel (who has been ‘Miss India Georgia’ and also the first runner-up at ‘Miss India USA’), whose playing the main lead in a yet-to-be-released film Let’s Dance, is a confident 22-year-old who has shifted base from the US to Mumbai to do what she believes in — acting.

This young girl had participated in classic English plays in college when she was in the US. A few years back, she came to Mumbai to make a mark in the Indian film industry and she has already taken some baby steps. While her debut movie will release soon, she reveals that she is going to be seen in a guest appearance role in Abbas Tyrewala’s 1:800 Love (that stars John Abraham and Abbas’ wife Pakhi). What you probably didn’t know about this girl is that Pakhi is her best friend. Gayatri reveals, “All thanks to Veena Mehta (Abbas Tyrewala’s mother-in-law) that my US accent has gone. She put in a lot of effort and made me do riyaaz.”

But like any other girl, she also dreams of the kind of guy she would like to tie the knot. About what turns her on in a man, she says, “For me, a man who has a lot of confidence and is successful in his career turns me on. I think it’s very hot! I want a dynamic man.” But ask her if she has found the special someone in her life and she giggles. She says, “I can’t reveal his name but he’s a great guy and he is from Bollywood. I’ve introduced him to my parents as a friend.”

Gayatri believes that she is a typical ‘Gujju’ and for her, it’s very important that her parents approve of the person she will marry. However, after the approval, she intends to elope and marry! Wonder why?
