Approximately five million graduates in India are jobless as they don’t have the skills and knowledge required by the corporate sector. To bridge this gap, Centum Learning, an education provider has collaborated with varsities like Annamalai and recently IGNOU to offer government recognised cost effective MBA’s and BBA’s to students.

“We started the Centum centres; a year and half back with Annamalai to offer quality education in Tier-I to Tier-III  cities,” said Sanjeev Duggal, CEO, Centum Learning.

The recently signed MoU with IGNOU takes this distributed learning format to a different level. The partners will offer a two-year MBA in management practices to train over 10,000 students in India for the next year. “Distance education suffers from problems like the sheer number of students and dearth of faculty.”However, Centum will hold contact sessions at 100 education centers, while IGNOU’s dynamic digitised learning material will be given to students on CDs.

The MBA will have specialisations in telecom, retail, finance and logistics. There will be an exit option after every semester, giving students a diploma instead of a degree. They can also take a break from study after the first year.  Apart from this, students will be groomed in corporate culture. UGC norms will be followed for curriculum and hiring faculty.

Post the course, Centum will also give every student at least one placement interview. “We have associations with top corporates in India; we have placed over 6000 students at a salary of Rs2.4 to 3.6 lakh a year,” said Duggal.

Similarly in collaboration with Annamalai, Centum has been offering MBA and BBA in business application, MBAs in retail management and communications and diplomas in banking and finance, telecom, insurance and sales management. Students learn for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week at their centres throughout the country.
