Maha college teachers to get Sixth Pay Commission benefits

Maharashtra Government on Thursday assured in the Legislative Council to implement the Sixth Pay Commission scales for college and university level teachers in the state within a month.
    
"The pay scales would be implemented to college and university level teachers within a month," Higher and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Tope said during question hour.
    
The Minister also assured that arrears for last three years amounting to Rs 1,500 crore, would be paid after discussing the issue in the Cabinet.
   
MLC B T Deshmukh raised the issue and said the Centre gives 80 per cent of the salary grant to the State Government. However, State officials are delaying it, he added. Tope said an enquiry would be conducted against officials responsible for the delay.
