Claiming that Central funds released for the welfare and upliftment of tribals were "embezzled" by middlemen in the state-level, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Tushar Chaudhary today said that he will strive to end this practice during his term, which began today with him taking charge.

"I have come after getting elected from a tribal region. I know everything about how a state government uses the fund (meant for tribals), how it does not reach the people
(tribals) and where does it actually go...mediators, NGOs and other agencies embezzle the fund. I know how these things happen, Chaudhary told PTI.

"I will discuss with the officials of my ministry and explore some solutions. I want to understand from them (ministry officials) how we can put tabs on these things and
ensure that funds reach the people it is meant for. I have this in my mind. I will gradually start the process," Tushar, son of former Gujarat chief minister Amarsinh Chaudhary, said.

Minister said that apart from this, his priority will be to ensure speedy and effective implementation of Forest Rights Act across the country.
