In a sensational development, a police constable attached to the Mumbai police is likely to come under the scanner of the Ahmednagar police in connection with a major robbery case which took place on May 19.

Interestingly, more than Rs25 lakh of the looted money, three country-made pistols and one revolver were recovered from the house of the police constable in Mumbai. Also,  three dacoits were arrested from his house.

According to the police, the three arrested suspects, during their preliminary interrogation, said that immediately after committing the robbery they fled to Mumbai and took shelter in the constable’s house in Worli.

Ashok Dongre, superintendent of Ahmednagar, confirmed that the three suspects Allahuddin Azam Khan, Dilipkumar Prahlad Chaurasia and Ganesh Somnath Singh had indeed been arrested from the constable’s house. He, however, refused to reveal the his identity.

Dongre said the investigations were still in the preliminary stage and a report would be prepared once the inquiry is over. Based on that, a decision would be taken whether action should be taken against the constable.

The police said the constable was not  available for questioning as he was out of Mumbai . Meanwhile, the three suspects have been remanded in police custody.
