Afghan dentist, Nigerian arrested with 3.3 kg heroin in Delhi

An Afghan dentist and a Nigerian national were arrested in the national capital allegedly with 3.3 kg heroin in their possession, a senior police official said on Tuesday.
    
Zamarai, the dentist hailing Afghanistan's Kabul, was arrested from Maidangiri by Delhi Police's Special Cell on May 15 when he came there to allegedly hand over the contraband to a Nigerian national Kalu Christian, the official said.
    
On searches, 3.3 kg of heroin was allegedly recovered from the possession of the dentist.
    
The official said the arrests and seizure following a tip off that some foreigners will assemble near Maidangiri to hand over contraband to some one.

During interrogation, the official claimed Zamarai disclosed that he came on a tourist Visa to India in April this year. This was his third visit to the country in the last two years.
    
Zamari also claimed that he was working for one Nawab Khan based in Kabul who is the alleged kingpin of the racket. Khan sends the consignment of heroin through one Gaffoor who delivers the same to Zamarai in Delhi.
    
Zamarai allegedly sold the contraband to Nigerians in the capital.
    
Christian disclosed that he came to India about six months ago on business visa. He is in the business of ready made clothes and jewellery stones.

Christian allegedly bought the drugs from Zamarai on the direction of his brother Alex who is in Pakistan from where it goes to international markets. Payments are made through hawala, the official said.
    
Efforts are on to apprehend the other members of this drug cartel and further investigation is in progress, according to the official.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
