Many people were injured, some of them seriously, when people in two groups clashed over a trivial issue near Sarangpur Chakla under Khadia police station on Sunday night.

According to Khadia police, Ashish Patel, his brother Parth Patel and two other persons were returning to their residence after playing a cricket match. When Ashish and Parth reached near Sarangpur Chakla, eight to ten persons, including Viram Rabari, Hitesh Rabari, Jaggo Rabari, Vallu Rabari, Amrut Rabari, Bharat Rabari, Harshad Rabari and few others attacked them.

Ashish and Parth also retaliated by attacking them with cricket bats and wickets. The brawl continued for more than half-an-hour, in which Parth received injuries on his head and legs. “Later, Ashish Patel and others set two motorcycles of Rabaris on fire,” sources said.

“Prima facie, it appears a financial dispute between Parth and Viram Rabari,” said AB Bhimavat, PI at Khadia police station, and added that Parth had taken money from Viram Rabari but failed to repay the amount even after a month.

Sources said Rabari had even threatened Parth of dire consequences if he failed to return the money. Bhimavat said Ashish Patel had lodged a complaint against Rabaris in this regard.
