The Malabar Hill police have once again recorded the statements of family members of Sneha Dani, a SYBCom student of Sydenham College who allegedly committed suicide on May 1 by jumping from the seventh-floor flat of her building at Nepean Sea Road.

DNA broke the story of Sneha’s suicide. Shejal, Sneha’s elder sister, had informed DNA that Sneha was upset after coming back from the college camp at Dahanu on January 17. On May 3, Shejal also said that Sneha, who was suffering from schizophrenia, started her medication after coming back from the camp and she suspected foul play in her death.

“Police have recorded our statement once again and this time I told them about the doubts which I had regarding Sneha’s camp as she lost her mental balance after returning from it. Police is investigating the matter to find out what exactly happened in the camp,” said Shejal.

According to Shejal, her sister had told her that she was treated badly in the camp by her friends. “Earlier, I didn’t inform the police about my doubts which I had regarding Sneha’s camp. But this time I told them that Sneha was very upset after the camp,” said Shejal.

However, the police have not filed an FIR in the case. “We are investigating the matter. It is true that Sneha was suffering from schizophrenia,” said Iqbal Shaikh, senior police inspector from Malabar Hill police station.

“We have again recorded the statement of the Dani family after we read about her sister’s doubt which she had regarding Sneha’s college camp,” said another police official.
