12-year-old boy commits suicide

Afraid of being scolded by parents for allegedly stealing Rs 5, a 12-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself in his residence at Wazirganj area here, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday when Nai Basti resident Zahir (12) demanded Rs 5 from his elder sister Rubina. After she refused, Zahir allegedly stole the money from the house.

Rubina, who came to know about the act, threatened Zahir that she would complaint to their parents about it. Afraid of being scolded, Zahir went upstairs and allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself, they said.

The investigation was on, police said.
