Dream girl of yesteryear, Hema Malini arrived in Porbander to campaign for the BJP candidate Mansukh Khachria on Thursday.

However, she was apparently irritated by the fact that the audience was noticeably small, so much so that she even refused to sign autographs for some young girls and preferred not to accept garlands offered by party workers.

In her speech, Malini, a Rajya Sabha member, spoke about the state government’s success in removing “gunda raaj” from the region, and referred to Mahatma Gandhi and Sudama. “Gujarat has developed more than most states of India and (Narendra) Modiji is the number one chief minister,” she said.

However, some of the party workers and residents of the region were disappointed as she left Porbander without visiting the birth place of the father of the nation. When asked whether campaigning by film stars was losing its charm, she left without any response.
