Aamir Khan was certainly not expecting the phone call that came last week. On the other end was Hollywood film-maker Sean Hepburn Ferrer, better known as (late) Hollywood diva Audrey Hepburn’s son.
Interestingly, the call was actually a personal invitation from Sean to invite Aamir for the screening of…well, Aamir’s own movie!
Says a source close to Aamir, “Sean Hepburn Ferrer personally called Aamir Khan to invite him for a special screening of his film Taare Zameen Par in Berlin on May 3 to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of Audrey Hepburn.”
Sean is so impressed with the film that Aamir has made that he has decided to extend an invitation to Aamir to be a part of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund which was set up by Sean and his step-brother Luca Dotti. The organisation is supported by UNICEF with which Audrey Hepburn was associated for a long time before her death in 1993.
Says Sean when we got in touch with him, “I find that Taare Zameen Par is one of the most beautiful movies ever made about the inner world of a child.” According to him, screening of Aamir’s film is just the “right choice” to celebrate Audrey’s 80th birthday.
“I am very happy to announce that his (Aamir’s) movie expresses the same caring spirit towards children that Audrey Hepburn represented and which was so important to her, and therefore Taare Zameen Par would be the right choice to celebrate this important occasion.”
Sean has already distributed DVDs of the film to his friends and Hollywood biggies who will be attending the event at Berlin. Copies of the DVD have also been given to the top brass at UNICEF as well. Sources add that Aamir might be joining the ranks with Hollywood star Jennifer Love Hewitt who is a goodwill ambassador for the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund.
Aamir is currently holidaying in Canada and is expected to make a trip to Berlin on his return to the city.
