Bandra doctor ‘molests’ minor girl in clinic

The Bandra police on Sunday arrested a 65-year-old doctor on charges of molesting a minor girl.

Dr TN Shetty, who has a clinic in the Pali Naka area, is the victim’s family doctor, police said. It is suspected that he molested the 14-year-old girl when she went to his clinic with a throat ailment.

Though the girl did not say anything at the clinic, she confided in her mother after reaching home. Her mother took her to the Bandra police station and filed a complaint.

The police arrested Shetty from his clinic. He will be produced in court on Monday.
“The girl went to the doctor’s clinic on Sunday around 10.30 in the morning. She had a throat problem,” Prakash George, the senior police inspector at Bandra police station, said. “The girl has accused the doctor of molesting her on the pretext of checking her throat.”

Shetty lives in the Pali Naka area and his clinic has been there for the past 25 years. The girl lived with her parents in the same area. They shifted to Chimbai a few years ago, another officer said.

“His son’s death has left him slightly mentally disturbed. We are investigating the incident,” he said.
