Minority workers of Congress in Vadodara join BJP

A large number of Congress party workers including supporters from the minority community have joined the BJP in Vadodara district on Saturday.

A large number of Congress party workers including supporters from the minority community have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Vadodara district on Saturday. The sudden swing in favour of the BJP has created a flutter in Congress circles, especially for the Chotta-Udaipur seat, as majority of the workers who have joined the BJP come under this constituency. NCP leader Ashok Pawar from Vadodara along with 35 supporters has also joined the BJP.

The saffron brigade sudden good fortune in the Vadodara district has however, traumatised local Congress leaders to a great extent. Talking to DNA, Vadodara district BJP president Satish Patel said, the Congress workers from various villages and towns of Vadodara district have joined BJP. About 30 Congress workers, belonging to minority community from Bodeli initiated the move on the occasion of inauguration of election office at Bodeli on Saturday.”

Apart from that Congress workers from Chotta-udaipur have also joined the BJP. Among the 150 Congress workers from the minority community from Kawant and Panvaad who joined BJP, includes tribal leader Sardarsinh Bhil, member of taluka panchayat, Ravjibhai Dadhi from Mandala which is regarded as a strong hub of Congress.

According district BJP officials, about 300 workers in all have joined BJP on Saturday.
Apart from this, Shriram Shinde and Nishu Chauhan from the Maratha Sangh also joined the BJP at Vadodara.
